Job Description

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Start your career as a new Psychologist with an internship that will provide you an opportunity to experience parts of Australia that many people never see, whilst at the same time, doing work that is impactful and interesting.

Whilst the position will be based in Perth, regular travel to the Northern Territory will be required. There may also be opportunities to work across our NSW and Victoria teams in future.

The work for intern psychologists at SAL Consulting is varied and provides a strong base in working with people of all ages with a range of underlying developmental, educational, mental health and trauma related issues.

Our team complete a range of assessments with diverse client populations including:

  • Psychosocial assessment
  • Psychometric assessment
  • Behavioural assessment
  • Dementia assessment
  • ASD assessment
  • Specialist behaviour intervention
  • Psychological intervention
  • Therapy 
  • Early childhood developmental assessment
  • FASD assessment
  • Forensic assessment

The use of assessments relating to learning difficulties, executive functioning, depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc. are also utilised as appropriate. 

Psychological intervention, therapy and behaviour support services are provided using a diverse range of modalities inclusive of individual, family based and service system interventions. 

Our client groups are diverse and are inclusive of a wide range of presentations stemming from developmental trauma, developmental disability, neuro developmental disorders, traumatic brain injury, and mental health issues.

While our office bases and primary work are in Success and Darwin, we also offer a range of opportunities to work regionallysuch as in Broome in WA and Katherine and Alice Springs in the NT.

Desired Skills and Experience

ABOUT YOU:

  1. Tertiary qualification in Psychology and eligibility for AHPRA registration;
  2. Experience or interest in working with people with intellectual disabilities, mental health issues and / or experiences of trauma who have complex needs;
  3. Experience or interest in providing clinical and / or behaviour assessment, intervention and support in the disability, out-of-home care and / or other relevant sectors;
  4. A sense of adventure and enjoyment of travel.

Due to the nature of our business, it is required that our staff:

  • have a current Driver’s Licence;
  • have a current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening, or the ability to attain these checks.
